Making, cancelling & amending a booking

You can amend your reservation online or alternatively contact our Reservations team directly here

How can I enhance my reservation?

If you would like to enhance your reservation with champagne or flowers in the room, a late checkout, or a transfer to or from the hotel, please get in touch with our Guest Services team here. You can also login to our guest portal here with your booking confirmation number, in order to arrange additional amenities or build an itinerary for your stay.

Do all rooms offer a river view?

Sea Containers London offers a variety of rooms, some feature stunning river views, and others showcase city views.

What is the cancellation policy?

Policies can vary for special offers and packages. Please review the booking description of your reservation. If you have booked a flexible rate, cancellations must be made before 6pm the day prior to arrival. If you cancel after 6pm the day prior to arrival, you will be charged a cancellation fee of one night’s room and tax. Fully pre-paid bookings are non-refundable. Arrival

What times are check-in and check-out?

Check-in is available from 3pm and check-out is until 12 noon on the day of your departure. 

Guests must be over 18 with valid I.D. to check-in. A valid credit card is required at check-in. In addition to room and tax, an additional £100 per night will be held on your credit card to guarantee any incidental charges. 

Early check-in / late check-out

Neither is guaranteed however, we’re happy to accommodate requests whenever possible. Early check-in and late check-out requests are subject to availability on the day - extra fees may apply.

If you need a guarantee of early check-in, we recommend booking the night before at the best available rate.

Does the property have 24-hour reception?

Yes. We have a dedicated reception team 24h a day.

Can I store luggage at the hotel?

Luggage storage is available to guests of the hotel through the Front Desk at no charge. Luggage can be held at the hotel during your stay for up to 24 hours after departure. The hotel is not responsible for luggage stored over 24 hours after departure.

Parking

Is hotel parking available?

There is very limited parking under Sea Containers House which is available on a first come basis at an additional £45 per 24 hours Sunday to Thursday and £49.99 per 24 hours from Friday to Sunday. Parking is subject to availability on the day. 

Is parking available nearby?

Public car park NCP Doon Street is at 99 Upper Ground, and the National Theatre car park is at 101 Upper Ground. Locate and pre-book public parking here

Does the property have EV charging stations?

We have 3 EV charging stations in our underground parking in Sea Containers House. Please contact us prior to your stay if you require use of one of the stations. 

Getting to & from the Hotel

Do you offer a shuttle service?

We don’t offer a shuttle service, but our Front of House team can arrange private transportation for you.

Can you organise transportation for me?

Yes, we can arrange private transportation for you at a competitive price.

How do I reach the hotel and where is the entrance?

The main reception entrance, located at 20 Upper Ground, is ideal for guests arriving by car or taxi. There is a taxi rank directly outside for easy drop-off and pick-up. There is also a riverside entrance located directly off the River Thames walkway, providing convenient access for guests arriving on foot from the South Bank.

Does the hotel have bicycles available?

We do not offer bicycles, however there are many dockless cycle hire options available nearby such as Santander Cycle or Lime Bike, where you can find, unlock and rent bikes using a smartphone app.

What is the nearest underground station?

Southwark station (Jubilee line) is a 5 minute walk. Blackfriars station (Circle & District line) is a 7 minute walk, and Waterloo station (Northern, Bakerloo, Jubilee and Waterloo & City lines) is a 12 minute walk from the hotel. 

What is the nearest rail station?

London Waterloo station is a 12 minute walk or taxi from the hotel. A major transport hub for National Rail and London Underground, Waterloo serves many destinations, including cities in the south-west. 

Liverpool Street station is a 30 minute walk or 15 minute taxi. A major transport interchange offering National Rail and Underground services, including services to Stansted Airport and the east of England.

Payments

Do I need to provide credit card details on arrival?

Yes, a valid credit card is required at check-in. In addition to room and tax, an additional £100 per night will be held on your credit card to guarantee any incidental charges. 

Which payments methods are accepted?

All major credit and debit cards are accepted. We do not accept personal checks.

Can charges be settled by a third party?

Yes, please contact the reservations team in advance for a payment link.

Can I prepay for my booking?

Prepaid bookings require a Credit Card Authorisation Form to be completed and emailed back to the hotel. This form is available by contacting the hotel directly. Such submissions are subject to our Privacy Policy.

Are gift vouchers available for purchase?

Sea Containers London Gift Cards are available to purchase here.  

Can I receive a final bill upon check-out?

Yes, a final bill can be sent directly to you upon check-out. Please contact us here.

What is the 5% accommodation service charge?

A discretionary 5% accommodation service charge will be added to your bill on check-out. This is distributed amongst our front and back-of-house teams for the service they provided during your stay. 

When will my deposit be returned?

We always aim for this to be returned as soon as you check out, but depending on your bank, deposits can take between 5-10 working days to show back in your account. Please contact our Guest Services team if you have any questions.

My Stay

Does the hotel offer breakfast?

We offer bed & breakfast packages which you can book online in advance, or breakfast may be added upon check-in. Breakfast is available daily in Sea Containers Restaurant for both walk-in guests, and guests who have pre-booked.

What features are included in the rooms?

All our rooms offer Nespresso® Coffee and Espresso machines and 49-53” Samsung TVs with Chromecast compatibility for custom streaming. Smart outlets are located bedside and by workspaces. All bathrooms offer D.S. & Durga ‘Debaser’ products for guest use in-room. 

What restaurant & bar facilities are available at the hotel?

Award-winning cocktail bar, Lyaness; Sea Containers Restaurant with riverside terrace on the ground-floor; 12th Knot rooftop bar & terrace; and The Den - our riverside lobby lounge.
We also have a gym, wellness spa and cinema.

Are you a dog friendly hotel?

Sea Containers London is a dog-friendly hotel for pets weighing 20lbs or less. Upon check-in you will be asked to sign a Pet Waiver and make a deposit payment of £100 per pet. Dogs are allowed in Sea Containers Restaurant, but are not permitted in the bars or common hotel areas such as The Den. Pets should never be left unattended in any area of the hotel, including guest rooms.

Are your bars & restaurants dog friendly?

There are areas of Sea Containers Restaurant dedicated to dogs which are available on a first come first served basis. We kindly ask that all dogs and owners follow our house rules and be respectful of our staff and other diners.

Do you have wheelchair accessible rooms and outlets?

Yes, our outlets are wheelchair accessible and we have 34 bedrooms that are wheelchair accessible. Please book these in advance with our Reservations team to ensure availability. Please view our Accessibility information here.

Are your bedrooms non-smoking? 

Sea Containers London is a non-smoking property (this includes e-cigarettes). Smoking is permitted on the river walk alongside the hotel, and cigarette posts are provided for guest use. A fine of £350 will be issued if guests are found to have smoked in their rooms.

Do you have rooms where I can open the windows?

Our Riverview Balcony Suites and Patio Rooms have sliding doors that can be opened.

Is it possible to arrange additional amenities or gifts?

Our experienced Guest Engagement team is pleased to assist in arranging special amenities and gifts to enhance your stay. Please feel free to share your requests with us. Amenities and gifts can also be requested and booked directly through our guest portal. Once you have made a booking, please login here using your booking confirmation number. 

Do you have bathtubs in the rooms?

Bathtubs are available in select room categories. Please let us know in advance so we can accommodate your preference. All our Suites have both showers and bathtubs.

Restaurants & Bars

What restaurant and bar facilities are available at the hotel?

Experience experimental cocktails at our award-winning bar Lyaness on the ground floor. For a relaxed atmosphere, enjoy all-day dining at Sea Containers Restaurant, featuring a riverside terrace with stunning views. Unwind with cocktails and DJs up at 12th Knot, our rooftop bar & terrace. Or kick back in The Den, riverside lobby lounge. Plus, our 24-hour room service menu is available whenever hunger strikes. Please note that Lyaness has an age restriction of 18 years from 5pm. 12th Knot is for over 18's at all times.

Does the hotel offer Room Service?

Yes, we offer Room Service 24 hrs a day. Please order via the QR code on your TV in-room.

Are take-away hot drinks available?

Enjoy takeaway hot drinks from The Den - perfect for on-the-go moments.

Is a children's menu available?

Yes, a children's menu is available in Sea Containers Restaurant and via Room Service.

Can dietary preferences and allergies be accommodated at the hotel?

Yes, we gladly accommodate all dietary allergies and preferences. Please let us know in advance so we can tailor your dining experience to your needs.

Are vegetarian and vegan options available?

All our outlets offer delicious vegan and vegetarian dishes. Just ask your server for recommendations when ordering.

Friends & Families

Is the hotel suitable for families?

Yes, Sea Containers London is a family-friendly hotel. We offer special Family Rooms and Suites and amenities for children and babies including cots and baby care products. We offer a Kids Menu at Sea Containers Restaurant and via Room Service. Find out more here.

Can I have an extra bed in my room?

A fee of £50 applies to have a rollaway bed added to a room. Please request this in advance of your stay and note that only certain room types are able to accommodate an additional bed. 

Are you able to provide baby cribs?

Yes, we can provide baby cribs/cots on request. It is recommended to advise us in advance of your stay if you require a crib.

Does the hotel offer connecting rooms?

The hotel offers multiple rooms that can be connected. For more information, please see here or contact the Reservations team for any specific requests.

Are there any age restrictions?

Guests must be 18 years or older to reserve a room. Children under 18 must stay at the hotel with company aged 18 and above. Service of alcoholic beverages is restricted to guests aged 18 years and above. Valid ID may be required.

Is it possible to store breast milk?

Yes, absolutely. We have a fridge and freezer located behind Reception that is specifically allocated for this purpose only. Our team will be happy to assist with safe storage throughout your stay.

Convenience Services

Do you have international power adaptors? 

We provide international power adapters upon request for your convenience. Power adapters are also available for purchase in our minibars.

Is there a Lost & Found?

Yes, we offer a Lost Property service. We can send forgotten items back to you, or arrange onsite pickup. Please note that shipping costs will be your responsibility. Items will be kept for one month, depending on their value.

Can I store medication?

We have a fridge and freezer located behind Reception that is specifically allocated for this.

Who do I contact if I want to book an event at the hotel?

Will the hotel accept packages addressed to me before I arrive?

If you’re expecting something to arrive while you’re staying with us - or just before you arrive - we’re happy to accept it as long as your name’s linked to a current or upcoming booking in our system.

What are the key local attractions within walking distance of the hotel?

Sea Containers London is ideally located within walking distanced of some of London's most iconic landmarks and cultural attractions, including Tate Modern, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, St Paul’s Cathedral, London Eye, Borough Market, National Theatre.

Where is the closest pharmacy/essentials store?

Osbon Pharmacy is a 30 second walk from the hotel at 9 Upper Ground, SE1 9LP (open Monday to Saturday). Convenience store Little Waitrose is a 3 minute walk from the hotel, located at the corner of Stamford Street and Rennie Street it's open 7 days a week.

What local restaurants and bars are within walking distance of the hotel?

Sea Containers Restaurant, Lyaness and 12th Knot bars are on site at the hotel. There are many other bars and restaurants within walking distance including OXO Tower Restaurant & Bar (contemporary, fine-dining); Fountain & Ink (pub); Swan London at the Globe Theatre (contemporary British); Hawksmoor Borough Market (steak); Forza Wine at National Theatre (Italian-ish); La Gamba (riverside tapas in Royal Festival Hall).

Wellness

What wellness facilities are available for all guests?

Sea Containers London is home to the award-winning agua spa. The Steam Room is available to all hotel residents daily, from 9.30am to 7pm. The Relaxation Lounge is available to hotel residents during quiet periods only. (Both facilities are available to guests who have booked a spa treatment).
The Gym at Sea Containers is open 24-hours for residents and is equipped with state-of-the-art strength training and cardio offerings - including Technogym Cardio and Strength training equipment and Hydrow Rowers. Find out more here.

Are there running and cycling routes around the hotel?

Yes, the hotel offers access to several excellent cycling and running routes located just outside, perfect for guests looking to stay active during their stay.

Does the property have a hypoallergenic offering?

For a more comfortable stay, hypoallergenic bedding is available upon request. Just let us know prior to or during your stay and our Housekeeping crew will assist.

Does the property have 24-hour security?

Yes, we have 24-hour security for any and all needs. 

Does the property have a responsible sourcing policy?

Sea Containers London is aligned with Lore Group's Responsible Sourcing policy for procurement of all goods and services.

Does the property use renewable energy?

Sea Containers London partners with Good Energy, a Green Energy Company that works with multiple PPA suppliers across the country. 100% of our electricity is renewable.

Does the property measure its carbon footprint?

Sea Containers London measures and has third party assurance of all Scope 1 and Scope 2 CO22 emissions. The property partially measures Scope 3 Co2e emissions including water; waste; refrigerants and external laundry emissions.

Does the property have any sustainability/green certifications?

Does the hotel make a donation for booked rooms?
