Fireworks, winter festivals and epic Thanksgiving feasts - London is really lighting up this November, and as the clocks have officially gone back, the festive season is almost upon us. So wrap up warm and embrace one of the cosiest months in London.
Bridget Riley at Hayward Gallery(1 November – 26 January)
Devoted to the work of celebrated British artist Bridget Riley, Hayward Gallery presents a major retrospective exhibition spanning over 70 years worth of her work. It’s the largest and most comprehensive of Bridget’s work to date, and brings together the iconic black-and-white paintings of the 1960s, expansive canvases in colour, and recent wall paintings. Once you’ve admired the incredible work of Bridget, take a stroll along to Sea Containers Restaurant and enjoy dishes from our All Day dining menu. It sounds like a perfect day to us.
Skyline Stretch (3 and 18 November)
Shake up your fitness goals this winter, as we’re partnering with Core Collective to bring you Skyline Stretch. We’ll be hosting two classes: Stretch & Mobility and Power Yoga so expect to move, feel and perform better. And 12th Knot itself is perfect for that extra and much-needed headspace thanks to it’s views and uplighting interior. Basically working out has never looked so good – let’s get sweaty! Bonfire Night (5 November)
Practise your oohs and ahhhs and head down to one of the largest firework displays in the city, at Southwark’s Fireworks night. Drawing in the crowds every year and with plenty of food, drink and entertainment, it’s the perfect setting along the South Bank. Once you’ve watched as the night sky lights up with a dazzling display, warm up in 12th Knot with a drink or three.
Rosé on the Roof(7 November – 5 January)
Inspired by the arctic lights, Sea Containers London is lighting up pink this winter. Follow the light towards 12th Knot where the rooftop is transforming into a cosy arctic winter terrace in association with Champagne Laurent-Perrier. Expect twinkling lights, splashes of pink, cosy blankets and cushions, and a true wintery feel. No terrace is complete without drinks so sip on Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé and a selection of cocktails inspired by the good stuff, because there’s something magical having a drink with the London skyline as a backdrop. Southbank Centre Winter Festival(8 November – 5 January) The Southbank is already a place for the best performances, pop-ups and cultural activites, but it’s even more a magical time this winter. Fun-filled family shows, festive goodies at the market, twinkling lights and dazzling comedy – South Bank have more seasonal delights than you can shake a stocking at, and sure know how to celebrate. So once you’ve wandered and admired as much as you can, finish up in Lyaness for one of their cocktails to warm yourself right back up.
Throwback Tea and Movie(10 November)
Get your pals together, and prepare to relive one of the best decades of all time, with Throwback Tea and Movie. Lyaness have teamed up with Curzon to create a truly throwback experience by enjoying 80s movie classic The Breakfast Club, followed by Fancy tea in Lyaness. Spa Social(19 November)

Thanksgiving(28 November) There’s a lot to love about Thanksgiving, but sometimes the hosting can be too much hassle, so ditch the planning and come celebrate with us (and all of the trimmings). With a Thanksgiving menu like no other, and a Thanksgiving on the Thames room package, you’ll be able to celebrate the festivities stress free. And as it’s a time for giving thanks, we’ve joined up with The Felix Project, where we’ll be donating 20% of our menu and room proceeds to help vulnerable people suffering food poverty in London. A Christmas Carol at The Old Vic(from 23 November)
Filling the auditorium to the brim with mince pies, music and merriment, Matthew Warchus’ big-hearted, smash hit production of Charles Dickens’ immortal classic, returns to The Old Vic. Joyously adapted for the stage by Jack Thorne, A Christmas Carol’s unique staging immerses the audience in this uplifting story, and it’s the perfect thing to watch to get you well and truly into the festive feeling.
