Sustainability Commitment

We are currently working to establish Sea Containers London as a fully sustainable hotel. Our strategy is underpinned by the FuturePlus framework, a comprehensive ESG measurement and management platform that assesses sustainability across five themes: Climate, Environment, Economic, Diversity and Inclusion and Social.

As a community-centric property, we have committed to being a socially conscious business, and have been working with FuturePlus since January 2023, to understand, measure, manage, improve and report on our sustainability impact and goals. This is vitally important for us as we want to hold ourselves to the ambitious sustainability goals, we have set for Sea Containers London, in a rigorous and unambiguous manner. These results are demonstrated in a quarterly impact report that highlights our achieved goals and our ambition roadmap.

Doing well by doing good

Millennium Bridge and St Paul's Cathedral

Sea Containers House utilises 100% renewable electricity (certified) through Good Energy and 5% of this is produced by solar panels on property. Our property is now fully LED, and we are continuing to drive sustainable improvements through our Capital Expenditure program each year. We are also an official member of the Energy and Environmental Alliance and are committed to doing well by doing good.

Sea Containers London is fully certified by BREEAM with a Very Good rating and has an EPC certificate rating of 28 (B-energy rating). The full property, including all our back-of-house spaces, is certified through Access Able and won the Blue Badge Award for the most accessible hotel property in Europe in 2019.

This work also includes official partnerships with Carbon X Gen to ensure our energy and water consumption and carbon output is consistently monitored with formal reporting. We partner with Thrive (Impact Evaluation Standard , HM Treasury) to measure and monitor our social impact value.
