Sunday Roast

Gordon Ramsay at Sea Containers

A South Bank Sunday in autumn comes with plenty of rewards. A stroll past the Globe and Tate Modern as the afternoon fades, the Thames glittering with the city's lights, and a mouth-watering roast waiting at the end of it.

The Roast
Our dry-aged beef sirloin is given the time it needs: slow maturation, careful handling, so the flavour reaches its full depth. It's carved into thick slices, the crust deep and caramelised, the centre still rosy pink. For those who prefer poultry, the roast chicken gets the same care: simply done, skin golden and crackling.

The Trimmings
No shortcuts here. Yorkshire pudding, sizzling straight from the oven. Roast potatoes, crisp at the edges, fluffed inside, turned in beef fat. Honey-glazed carrots and braised hispi cabbage. Cauliflower cheese, rich and bubbling.
